Penguicon will host its third SF/F Writing Workshop with program content each day of the convention. This workshop is open to new or unpublished genre fiction writers. Penguicon is now well-known for its very special workshop - just ask anyone who's attended.

Submissions for this workshop are now OPEN. Send a completed second draft of your short story or novel first chapters to the Workshop as an RTF attachment. PLEASE FOLLOW STANDARD MANUSCRIPT FORMAT, and make sure you include your name, address, and e-mail address. Manuscripts should be straight prose of a Speculative Fiction genre, total no longer than 6000 words, and it must be received by April 6, 2007. For rapid processing, ELECTRONIC SUBMISSIONS ONLY will be accepted. Print copy of all submissions will be made available by the workshop at the convention. PRE-REGISTRATION for Penguicon 5 is not required but highly recommended.

SP will host multiple items at this convention - most should be listed under Writing Workshop on the master schedule. Additional items are forthcoming so watch the schedule for the latest as it's confirmed. Each programming point will have its own event description when it's final.

The Sanctuary Press Writer's Workshop is organized to provide new and unpublished writers who attend SE Michigan's major SF/F conventions a chance to 'hit the ground running' with their SF/F work. A writers conference track is custom designed for the convention, one that both involves its core of participants from the industry, and also takes advantage of the best environment that the program coordinators of the convention can offer. Sanctuary Press works with a small network of published pro, self-published, and new writers on the guest list to form a critique resource for these writers, which is put into motion several weeks before the convention with online crit resources and electronic distribution of submissions. The online crit resources of the workshop grows every year; it is comprised of past submitters to earlier workshops and several participating panel authors as well.

Critique for each submission is collected and given to the writers at convention time. All weekend, writers are encouraged to internetwork as well as work on implementing the feedback they collect for their work, and perhaps join the core for next year.
